Lohnny Callaway

Lohnny Bartow Callaway, 89, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born in Calhoun, on April 19, 1936, to the late Bartow and Sudie Callaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Callaway; daughters, Diane McAllister and Dolores McKee.
He is survived by his sons, Frankie Callaway and Carl Callaway; son-in-law, Danny McAllister; grandchildren, Shawn McAllister, Brian (Tiffany) McAllister, Darryl Dalton, Amanda (Jason) Watkins, Kassandra Callaway; 12 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Lohnny worked as a printist for Lee Printing for 32 years. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking in his shop.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Donny Mattila officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with Lee Callaway, Jason Serritt, Bryson Callaway, David Callaway, Brady Dalton, and Sebastian McAllister serving as pallbearers.

Scott Chadwick

Randall Scott “Scottie” Chadwick, age 61, of Sitton Road of Calhoun, went to bed and woke up in Heaven on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Scottie was born on March 17, 1965 in Floyd County, son of the late Howard Chadwick and Mary Ida Thomas Chadwick. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his siblings, Pam and Barry Chadwick; grandparents, Carl and Gertude Chadwick, and Oscar and Ida Thomas; and brother-in-law, Don Cigainero.
Scottie’s life was filled with much happiness and joy. He enjoyed working on the farm. He loved to go on cruises with his sister and traveling out west and going to the mountains. He loved taking care of Jayden and Clark while Gina did her errands. He was always dependable and game for any adventure. He enjoyed going to eat out and grocery shopping with Rita. He loved his independence and being at home. He grew up on Hwy 53, where Harbour Freight in Calhoun is located. In 2000, his dad and late brother moved to grandmother’s farm on Sitton Road. He loved cutting firewood and making a “heater” he would call it.
For many years he cut grass with his dad and helped haul hay with his uncles. For the last few years, Scottie was his dad’s caregiver. The last six years, Scottie came and sat with Don until Don passed away in April 2025. He was there for his family, and they took care of him. Also, Scottie worked 24 years at Burton Rug and Mohawk. During his early years, he worked at Ramada Inn, Bonanza, and Golden Corral. He attended Gordon County Schools and Calhoun High School. Scottie was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and enjoyed Fridays at World Harvest Church. Over years Scottie met many friends always with a smiling face.
Scottie is survived by: his sister, Rita Cigainero; niece, Gina Cigainero Doss and her husband Charles; great-nephews, Jayden, Clark, and Chaz; one great-niece, Clara; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins; as well as his dogs, cats, horses, goats, and his favorite dog, Andy. To all he was known as “Uncle Scott.”
The family received friends on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Chaplain David Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

Bertha Chapman

Bertha Mae “Crook” Chapman, 86, of Calhoun, entered the presence of her Lord, and savior Jesus Christ, during the early hours on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
She was born in Gordon County on Jan. 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Columbus and Odell Hamrick Crook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. Kenneth Chapman, Sr.; son, Kenny Chapman; sisters Nell (Egan) Perry, Ella Ree Crook, and Elaine Walraven, and sister-in-law, Annette Crook.
She enjoyed working outside in the garden, canning the various vegetables that she harvested, sewing, crocheting, quilting, crafting, and writing poetry. She adored her family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Greg) Samples, and Denise Brookshire; daughter-in-law, Vickie Chapman; grandchildren, Kimberly (Todd Holt) Chapman, Ken (Cassie) Chapman. Shannon Brookshire, Rachel Brookshire, Ethan (Magen) Samples, and Sam Presley; great grandchildren Rebecca Lambert, Kevin Lambert, Mallorie Samples, and Lucus Chapman; brother, James Crook, and special niece, Barbara Jean Jones.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Jether Cochran officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Sam Presley, Robert Paris, Ken Chapman, Ethan Samples, Dusty Jones, and Greg Samples. Honorary pallbearers will include members of “Helping Hands” Sunday School Class, Louie McEntyre, Jack and Geneva Bibb, Allen Johnson, Jimmy Fox, and Kirk Jarrett.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28th at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 10:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
The family is very thankful for your prayers, your thoughts, and every act of kindness shown to them. Flowers will be accepted, but no house plants please.

Linda Coots

Linda Faye Coots, 79, of Calhoun, was called home by Jesus on Thursday, March 26, 2026. She was born in Cleveland, Tenn. on Nov. 23, 1946. In addition to her parents, JD and Edna Brewer, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Coots Jr.
She is survived by her stepson and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kim Coots III; sisters, Irma Puryear and Jo Anne Butters; grandchildren, Chase and Hope Coots, Connor Coots; great-grandchildren, Paisley Holland, Palmer Coots; many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition, she leaves many joyous and lasting memories with her dear friends, church family and caretakers.
Linda was devoted to her husband, and they spent much of their retirement traveling. She enjoyed putting jig saw puzzles together and had a closet full of them. She and Joe Jr were rabid University of Arkansas football fans, and she spent many an evening playing along with Wheel of Fortune. She attended Crane Eater Community Church and loved her church family. She was a faithful supporter of missions and multiple ministries to spread the Good News of our savior Jesus Christ.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 3:00 PM from Crane Eater Community Church with Pastor Paul Gay officiating. Burial will follow in Crane Eater Community Church Cemetery with Joe Coots III, Chase Coots, Connor Coots, Hank Mauldin, and dear friends of her church family serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Crane Eater Community Church Missions.

Aaron Paradis

Richard “Aaron” Paradis, 48, of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Calhoun First Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Calhoun First Baptist Church.

Ann Shugart

Ann Caylor Shugart, age 83 of Calhoun, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at The Fountains at Calhoun.
Ann was born on Jan. 1, 1943, in Gordon County, daughter of the late William L. Caylor and Pauline Hayes Caylor. Ann was reunited in heaven with the love of her life, her husband of 38 years, Frederick Alton “Freddie” Shugart, and her beloved daughter, Susan Myers. She was a faithful member of House of Prayer Baptist Church, where she and Freddie served as pastor before he passed away, and where her church family meant so much to her. Ann found joy in simple pleasures, especially shopping and spending time with friends. She retired from Arrow Exterminating, but her most meaningful work was the love and kindness she shared with those around her. A proud graduate of Calhoun High School, she stayed active and connected in her community as a member of the Red Hat Society and the “Gatabouts.” She also enjoyed being part of the Silver Sneakers club, encouraging others to stay active while sharing laughter and friendship along the way.
Ann is survived by her step-daughter, Melissa Moore and her husband Skeet; and three grandchildren, Zachary Moore, Gabe Moore, and Samuel Moore; one great-grandchild, Bentley Moore.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30th, 2026, from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at 2 PM at House of Prayer Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Brown and Rev. Dwaine Shaddix officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Zachary Moore, Gabriel Moore, Samuel Moore and Bentley Moore.

James Walraven

James Bruce Walraven, 72, 0f Calhoun, departed this life on Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was born in Dalton on Feb. 20, 1954, son of the late Frank and Margaret Walraven. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Charyl Walraven; great-niece, Addison Davis; and best friend, Rusty Parr.
He enjoyed GA Bulldog Football, being outside, word search puzzles, and being around his great-nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his sister, Susan Walker; godson, Seth (Heather) Parr; best friend, Dianne Parr; nieces and nephews, Amanda Walker, Jennifer and Robert Davis, Ryder Williams, Kendal Williams, Camden Davis, Zayden Walker, Raven Walker, Azora Amos, and Aziriah Young.
A private family graveside service will be held, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
