One injured in three-vehicle crash on Hwy 225 Friday
The Georgia State Patrol has released the findings into a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Hwy 225 Friday afternoon. According to the GSP, around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, a Trooper from #623 of GSP-Calhoun responded to a three-vehicle crash with injuries on Hwy 225 at Craigtown Road in Gordon County. Local school systems celebrate successes in 2025-26 Georgia Milestones results
The State of Georgia released their 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones assessments results this week, saying Georgia students continued to show improvement in mathematics, science and social studies, with some all-time highs in mathematics. Registration is open for Georgia DNR's Hunter Education Course to be held Sept. 23 & 24, from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. each evening. The Calhoun City Schools Board of Education met for its Aug. 10, 2026, work session and unanimously agreed to name the Calhoun High School track in honor of legendary coach and educator Mr. R. Scholarships support stay-at-home father’s efforts to earn degree at GNTC
GNTC student Greg Huff has received two scholarships at GNTC. Two scholarships awarded through Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) are helping a stay-at-home father complete his associate degree in Cybersecurity. Greg Huff, who grew up in Chattanooga, attended GNTC’s Whitfield Murray Campus in Dalton and completed his classes in July. A first-generation college student, he and his wife live in Dalton with their 8-year-old son, 3-year-old daughter and newborn son.
