Gov. Kemp to convene Georgia General Assembly on June 17th for special session addressing redistricting
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp on Wednesday signed a proclamation that will convene the Georgia General Assembly for a special session to begin on June 17 to address redistricting. The move comes after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that resulted in race not being used to redistrict and create majority-minority voting districts. The regular session of the 2026 General Assembly adjourned on April 3, making a special session necessary to take up the redistricting work. According
