Help make Christmas brighter for local foster children: DFCS Secret Santa Program begins

Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022

Gordon County DFCS Director Rachel Brooks and the staff of DFCS are once again asking for the community's help in fulfilling the Christmas wishes of children in foster care.

Gordon County Division of Family and Children Services Secret Santa Program has a goal to provide Christmas for every foster child in Gordon County, which totals 150 children ages newborn through 18 years old. Due to the needs of more community foster homes, many of these children are placed outside of Gordon County and are unable to be with their own families due to situations beyond their control. These children are dependent upon the community's support to make their holiday season a little brighter.

There are two ways the community can volunteer their resources:

1. Make a monetary donation to Gordon County DFCS/SECRET SANTA FUND to 619 Mauldin Road, Calhoun, Ga. 30701

2. Be a Secret Santa and actually shop for a child. You can choose a child's individual wish list. This list will include the child's name, age, clothing sizes, favorite color and the items they are wishing for the most.

This FORM can be printed and filled out; you may also indicate on the form if you are interested in learning more about becoming a foster home and would like to be contacted about an informational session.

Simply complete the form below by clicking on the pdf file, and indicate how you would like to help. You can fax the form to Gordon County DFCS at 706-314-7446 or mail it back by Nov. 15 to be given a child's wish list.

Gordon County DFCS thanks the community for their generosity and continued support of the Secret Santa program. For more information, call 706-624-1238 or email Jody Sanderson, office manager, at jody.sanderson@dhs.ga.gov
